LUXURY DEVELOPMENT - 'ADEGA DO FOGO'

Pico's new luxury holiday home recovered from an old distillery that gives it its name, and which has a new life at the hands of an innovative management. Adega do Fogo works as a luxury segment 5 holiday home, which can be used by families or groups of friends who want to enjoy the property in its entirety. Privileged view of the highest point in Portugal, and is located in the Cabrito area, in the Pico Island Vineyard Culture Landscape, a site classified by UNESCO since 2004. Now it has a new soul, and is the perfect stop for those who want to discover or revisit the Azorean island and its traditions, flavors and history. 2021 marks the opening of Adega do Fogo, but the relationship with this place began in 2017, when they decided to acquire the land around 3500m2 where a vacant building in front of the sea had caught his attention. The decision to place that space, due to the energy that the place transmits to it, where you have the feeling of being in another dimension, as if you had gone back 200 years in time, perhaps because of the high walls that protect the interior from the real world. They decided to take a risk and buy the abandoned palace with the old decrepit distillery that, they came to discover, had been one of the main in the northern part of the island, where the community produced liqueurs and brandy. In January 2020, reconstruction works began, which focused mainly on interiors, insulation, coating and organization and reforestation of outdoor spaces. The original façade was fully maintained. The idea was to make a small charming hotel, taking a vibrant building with history and improving it to an extreme level of comfort, where you could enjoy your ancestry in a pleasant way, where the management could recover a habit with 40 years, from the early days when you started coming to Pico and receiving groups of friends: to be able to welcome those who arrive with time, proximity and comfort, and to show the world the best of the Azores, a land that the management discovered and that today is also a little bit of its own. A holiday home built in a former distillery, on private property. A building that was estimated to be 200 years old and its traditions was recovered, and it is a journey through the history, flavors and customs of the island. 6 bedrooms, 1 living room (former distillery), 1 dining room, 1 living room, 1 infinity pool, 1 sauna, 1 wood-burning oven with barbecue. The sauna works in another reused corner of the original building, all covered in cryptomeria wood, in a space where you can take a real break from the real world, in the sauna, you can easily create steam from an old rainwater collection tank, the massage can be enjoyed in the comfort of the room, in this house that is always the guest's. In the building of the old factory, a comfortable living room was created adjacent to a dining room and a small fully equipped kitchenette. In it you can enjoy local dishes and delicacies prepared by the hands of those who know how to make them so well, or you can even choose to cook your own meals, which we take care of after cleaning the space. All rooms have access to the old balcony at the front of the main building, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea. In order to offer guests the widest possible range of Pico's gastronomy and customs, a wood oven and a barbecue were built in the wooded part at the top of the property. Here you can eat fresh grilled fish, or learn how to make corn cake, eaten hot with artisanal fresh cheese. On the property there is an old tidal well, filled with very fresh brackish water at high tide, good for watering or washing the vegetables picked from the garden. The heated pool allows delicious private baths, especially pleasant after returning from an invigorating sea bath, or a session in the sauna. #ref:CAS_10
