It is located at a latitude 37.7667 (37°46') North and longitude 25.5667 (25°34') West, being at an altitude of meter.
'This parish is called Cabouco by once there have existed large 'caboucos' or quarries. It was elevated to the parish in 1980, thus being the newest parish of the Municipality of Lagoa.
It was in the capelands of Cabouco, during the 19th century, that Judge Vicente José Ferreira Cardoso da Costa made his first experiments with tobacco cultivation.
He sent tobacco seed and experimented in Quinta do Tanque and the Northeast. It should be said that this gentleman was the great-grandmother of Dona Maria Luisa, an inescapable figure in the history of Cabouco. He was born in Brazil in 1765 and died in Ponta Delgada in 1834.
When King Dom Carlos I was in São Miguel he gave the title of Viscount to an uncle of Dona Maria Luisa, he was now Viscountess.
