The parish of Conceição forms together with the Matrix, Ribeira Seca and Santa Bárbara the city of Ribeira Grande, which belongs to the Island of São Miguel, in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. With an extension of 12.74 square kilometers, this parish is situated on the north coast of the island, western part of the city of Ribeira Grande, it is reclined in a plain, and is bounded by its counterparts Matriz and Ribeira Seca.
The Toponym is due to the patron saint of the parish that is Our Lady of Conception, whose feast is celebrated in Portugal, national holiday, and in the parish on December 8.
