Fajã de São João is located on the south side of the island of São Jorge, in the parish of Santo Antão, in the municipality of Calheta, on a long and narrow strip of land at the foot of the cliff.
This fajã has few permanent inhabitants, but in August and September, many return to their homes for the harvest, as well as many emigrants and tourists.
Typical stone farmhouses, with three-sash windows and small subsistence agriculture productions, make this fajã one of the most picturesque on the island.
Fajã de São João is one of the main ex-libris of the landscape of São João and has been part, along with the others, since 2016, of the restricted list of UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves, having also been distinguished with an honorable mention in the National Landscape Prize of 2020, in the context of the 3rd National Conference on Architecture and Landscape.
In 2017, the municipality of Calheta took Fajã de São João to a competition in one of the biggest tourist promoters, the 7 Wonders of Portugal – Aldeias Remotas.
This property consists of 2 articles, one urban and the second rustic, located in the center of the fajã, close to the chapel dedicated to São João and whose framing of its small central tower, makes it one of the most photographed on the island.
The first article of the property, the urban one, consists of a two-storey house that is next to the path, dependence and backyard, the total area of this article is 1982 m2.
On the ground floor, with exterior access via stone stairs, a large room with 54 m2.

The second article of the property, the rustic one, has an area of 5037 m2 and is located right after the urban article, behind the house and extends up the slope in terraces, where in the past agricultural products were produced in addition to the consumption of the house, the fruit trees and the vineyards that produced the well-known Fajã de São João wine.
Interested in a large property located in one of the most interesting fajãs on the island of São Jorge, either for its location close to the sea, or for the quietness of the fajã, or for the sun exposure or even for the quality of the soil and also, inserted in the World Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO, so don't hesitate, I'm waiting for your contact.
