It is located at latitude 37.81667 (37°49') North and longitude 25.633 (25°39') West, being at a high altitude, however, it largely presents a relatively flat relief, especially in the northernmost part, which allowed the parish to develop during its first years agriculture, becoming this the main economic activity of the parish throughout its history and actuality. It has a road that connects to Mosteiros and Ribeira Grande. Although its main economic activity is agriculture, a large slice of the population works elsewhere in the municipality of Ponta Delgada. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the north. It belongs to this parish the place of Aflitos, important residential nucleus and place of implantation of the Golf Course of Batalha.
